Have itunes on your computer and when you download new music to your itunes (whehter it's from purchasing on itunes or downloading from your personal cd collection) than connect your ipod to your computer using the usb connector. The screen on your ipod will go to a circle with a slash through suggesting that it is downloading all the new music and to not disconnect. It will let you know when to disconnect. Hope this helps.

Use iTunes. Download the software free-of-cost onto your computer and then convert songs from CDs or buy songs from Apple's library (most are 99 cents apiece). Once you have added these songs to your library, you can drag and drop these onto your iPod, when the iPod is connected to your computer via the USB port.
This is explained in the manual.

You download music from limewire and put it in to itunes, or if you don't pirate, you buy songs from the iTunes music store . Plug in your iPod, they will be put on to iPod, and your all set!
