There are many causes of UTI's, especially in women. Women have a shorter urethra then man and the infection does not have far to travel to cause problems. The biggest cause in women is wiping the wrong way after going to bathroom. You should always wipe from front to back. After having a bowel movement never wipe towards the vaginal area, always away from it.
The second biggest cause is women soaking in bathtubs, this is because the urethra is short and the bacteria in water enters the vagina and causes the infection. Short baths are good, showers are better. Underwear can be a cause if UTI's. Cotton panties are better as it allows air flow around the vaginal area, thongs ang g strings cause UTI's on a regular basis

I know all about this believe me lol. I seen a specialist about this problem also. A UTI can be caused for wearing silk underware, using femine wash products (ex. summers eve) a block in the ureters (the pathway form your bladder to where you pee) using shaving cream, taking baths, wearing tampons OR pads (yea like we can avoid that huh lol). Just use a mild soap and wash daily in the shower. If it keeps coming about, you may have to have an internal to see if theres a problem in the vaginal area.

An infection occurs when microorganisms, usually bacteria from the digestive tract, cling to the opening of the urethra and begin to multiply. Most infections arise from one type of bacteria, Escherichia coli (E. coli), which normally lives in the colon.
In most cases, bacteria first begin growing in the urethra. An infection limited to the urethra is called urethritis.
From there bacteria often move on to the bladder, causing a bladder infection (cystitis). If the infection is not treated promptly, bacteria may then go up the ureters to infect the kidneys (pyelonephritis).
Microorganisms called Chlamydia and Mycoplasma may also cause UTIs in both men and women, but these infections tend to remain limited to the urethra and reproductive system.

if this is the case, I guess there is no obvious reason for your UTI.
unless you're having some other diseases related to the immune system, you're perfectly fine. we should keep in mind the tiny possibility of some urinary tract malformations or may be urinary stones. you need Xray or ultra sound imaging

Most common cause is wiping from back to front. Never do this. Always wipe from front to back and that will help. Also, using bubble bath and things like that if you take baths can cause UTI"S. Another thing is if you take a lot of antibiotics. You need to eat yogurt at opposite times while taking antibiotics or take accidophilus capsules at opposite times. make sure the yogurt has live cultures in it though. It's a good idea to eat this anyway to keep good flora in your intestine and bladder cutting down on infections. Also, try using a pure soap. Maybe ivory or go to a health food store, one with few ingredients are best. They actually can be found at regular stores now, less smelly stuff and just plain soap is best. You can be allergic to the perfumes and things in the soap. Also, certain underwear like string bikini and thongs can move around down there and get into areas that they shouldn't, causing bacteria from the rectum to spread to the urinary tract. This can cause UTI"S also. Really reaching, it can also be your laundry detergent combined with the underwear. So, think on this and change what you can and see what happens. Also, drink lots of water and cranberry juice, the real thing, not coctail is best. less sugar and more nutritious foods. Sugar causes yeast and yeast causes infections. good luck.

When you wipe you must be wiping in the wrong direction. Always wipe from the front to the back. When you wash, always wash from the front to the back. You many want to take showers instead of baths because bacteria can sit there in the water. Also stay away from pools and hot tubs.
If your boyfriend uses his finger down there he may have dirty hands that are spreading infections, too.

"You need to reduce the intake of foods such as beets, strawberries, spinach, coffee, tea, chocolate, nuts, and wheat bran.
Eat foods rich in calcium, including salmon, soy foods, and low-fat or nonfat yogurt.
Eat potassium-rich fruits and vegetables. I suggest at least five servings daily, particularly dried apricots, potatoes, lima beans, bananas, and citrus fruits.
Drink lots of water to help flush the kidneys -- at least 8 to 10 8-oz. glasses every day."
-----
We've found out that this 'Your Guide To Good Health' by Dr. Earl Mindell is true. Our family got out of our UTI problem, by following this guide.
-----
When taking foods or supplements rich in calcium; the prportion should be 1:2 magnesium:calcium.
----- This mineral helps disolve small kidney stones, if in case it is already developing, and could be the cause of your UTI.
There are other more supplements needed aside from these, and I suggest you read the book itself -- Vitamin Bible by Dr. Earl Mindell.
^_^ Get well soon.
