Hum, I think that he means that if he hurry he can still participate of the rodeo in Cheyenne.
Right?

he's trying to make it to another rodeo in Wyoming. He was going to head home but instead since his wife gave him the boot he's going to continue with his bronc or bull-ridin in the rodeo.

i assume he's saying that he can still make it to cheyenne, Cheyenne being the capital of Wyoming
