When I hooked it up to my laptop it worked fine so it must be the computer. Otherwise the computer is fine. It's a Gateway w/ a ViewSonic moniter and they are both less than a year old.

It's your video card inside the computer. Less than a year old, it may be under warranty, talk to Gateway.

Well I'm not quite sure what your asking but if its your laptop having an error (As in the laptop screen itself) then you have an internal error or system. If its the monitor, generally there is buttons at the bottom of the screen with menu and such and you navigate yourself to the colors options and select user, and then select the colors you would like to display. Hint, if you max all colors that is the best setting but it uses some refresh rate. No big deal though however you could navigate to the degaust selection and try that, other than that call a store like bestbuy and you might need your display replaced.

First and foremost check that the cable is firmly plugged into the video card. We have a system at work missing the screws and the cable regularly gets bumped slightly and we'll lose a color(generally blue for us) so Im guessing your cable is only partially connected.

Next go to your display properties(minimize everything, right click on the desktop and choose properties. Then click settings, then advanced. On the window that pops up look for 'color management' and check the settings there.) It could be someone has messed up your color settings.

Failing that I would guess there is a problem with your video card since you'd mentioned the monitor worked just fine with your laptop.

Plug it in to another PC to make sure it's not your PC. If it still does not display red then the red gun is not firing (if it's a CRT I assume). If this is the case, unless it's a professional expensive monitor, replace it.
