Why isnt my computer reading my card reader?

Question

I put the little card in the adapter and then put the adapter in the reader. i also put the cord in the reader then i put the cord into the computer but nothing happens. am i doing anything wrong?

plug the adapter and cable into the PC and see if it is picked up. If it doesn't it is broken
