I'll name for you the best series's which traditionally match up with certain companies' consoles.
Nintendo: Zelda. Hands down, the Zelda games are without the a doubt the most expansive and most progressive action/adventure games you can get for a Nintendo system. And they are always fun.
Sega: Sonic the Hedgehog. I'm talking old school Sonic 1, 2, 3, and Sonic and Knuckles for the Sega Genesis. They were awesome.
Sony (Playstation): Grand Theft Auto. The Grand Theft Auto franchise is enormous. Every game since GTA 3 has been incredible and provides a ton of gameplay.
Microsoft (XBox): Halo. Although Microsoft has only been in the console business for a short time, they have created one of the best franchises of all time. Halo 1 and 2 are some of the most kick-*** games ever made regardless of system.
PC: Doom. While Doom is only for intense gamers, it pretty much defined the first person shooter. Doom 1 was revolutionary. Doom 2 was outright awesome. And Doom 3 was so scary that I know guys who **** themselves playing it.

I think the Halo trilogy is probably the best video game series because the first 2 were everywhere and always #1!! The 3rd will be ultimate!

final fantasy hands down has gotta be one of the best, mario is always fun to play solo or with friends, halo is a decent new game, ratchet and clank are pretty good also and so is jak, squirlly headed weirdo lol
