I've never been a very good singer, but I've been practicing like crazy and I've found that I've gotten a little better. I am a 14 year old boy, and I really like musical theatre, and I'd like to be able to do that in high school. I'm not looking to become the next singing superstar, I'd just like to be able to sing in tune and pleasantly. Besides the obvious answer of getting a vocal coach (which I'm looking in to), what can I do to improve my singing?

Honestly.....just practice! I'm not the best singer, but I've noticed that the more I try to copy songs I hear, the more control I have over my voice. Practice singing songs you like but don't know very well; focus on pitch and on the tone of your voice itself. If one specific part of the song doesn't sound so good, sing it over and over again until you've worked out the kinks. The more you do this, the easier it will be to sing anything you hear; this not only gives you more control over your voice, but also develops your ear. Start with simpler melodies first, and work your way up.There are a ton of exercises you can do; if your school has a chorus, talk to the chorus director. In fact, joining the chorus will also help a lot as well. Also, find some other people your age who are interested in musical theater as well, they'll probably be able to help you out. Of course, getting a voice coach will help immensely. Good luck!

No there's not anything that you'll consume or dring that may aid "upgrade" your voice. The excellent factor that you'll do is figure for your respiring and train alot. The vocal cords are muscle groups that must be labored out effectively similar to muscle groups for going for walks or lifting. So you wish to ensure that you're making use of your muscle effectively. Breathing will have to be within the stomach now not the chest. When you inhale your stomach will have to increase and your shoulders and chest will have to now not transfer. Then as you sing or exhale you wish to tighten your belly muscle groups and make a strong base in your diaghram. The excellent approach to get used to stomach (diaphramatic) respiring is to put at the flooring for your again and placed a publication like a hymnal or textual content publication for your stomach. As you breath in ensure your stomach actions up and expands. then preserve it as you slowly exhale. correct respiring is the basis for well making a song. As some distance as studying the way to sing effectively with the intention to train. Well It's a bit of extra problematic to provide an explanation for in a small reply like this. But ensure you don't sound too breathy or too throaty. Try to make a constant even tone together with your voice and ensure to boost the gentle palate to your mouth. (while you yawn you shoujld suppose your gentle palate elevate) If you're making a song effectively you will have to yawn generally if you're doing it effectively seeing that you're triggering that muscle. The excellent factor might be to spend money on a couple of voice classes. Granted it might be excellent if you happen to might preserve with voice classes, but when you'll get a couple of palms on classes to take with you and train generally that are supposed to be handy.

Learn to use your diaphram and not your throat . You only use your throat to shape what's coming out. also slightly tilt your head back as this will open your throught up and give your self a solid 5 minutes to warm up . I almost forgot, take a deap breath when you are about to sing a line and expell your breath evenly as each word comes out. In other words breathing controll.

Just try to work on your natural voice. At first don't force your voice doing high pitch stuff. You just gotta keep practicing.

Of course (like you...), I'd say you should get a voice teacher. It could help you greatly. But, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE! You know that you're getting better, just practice more, and you'll get even better.
