The steering wheel is in front of you when you sit in a car, thats why you are behind it. If you said you were sitting behind the rear of the steering wheel you would be in the engine compartment.

You must have a weird car then, are you sure its not a fork lift ?
the steering wheel is invariably nearer the front of the car, the end with white lights on it, than the driver, therefore the driver sits behind the wheel.

You must have one hell of a strange car if the engine compartment is behind the steeering wheel.
My engine compartment is very much at the front.
Have you been in a major collision?

they say they sit behind the steering wheel because it's damned difficult to drive while laying in the trunk all tied up and gagged.

99.9% of the time you drive or face forword. That puts the steering wheel in front of you and you BEHIND it.
So in fact you sit BEHIND the steering wheel!

I suppose because it is a turn of phrase, and I guess compared with the standard direction of travel, you are sitting behind the wheel.

i don't be attentive to what this is, yet i glance to lose all endurance when I get at the back of the wheel of my automobile. i'm no longer an aggressive driving force and that i do no longer act stupidly mutually as utilising, yet i in basic terms get aggravated by ability of people who're oblivious to what's happening around them - i propose, that's risky on the tip of the day!! My 12 365 days previous son stumped me the different day somewhat. I had in basic terms ranted at a driving force who became hesitating (c'mon FFS!!!!) and then no longer indicating (yeh i'm a ideas reader now am i?!!!) and my son became to me and mentioned "mum, why do you shout plenty at people? they are of their autos, you be attentive to they'd't pay attention you?" - eeeeerm ....sure son that's totally actual!! concern is, he's one in each of those baby who desires a valid answer until now he will enable it flow!! lol - i think of interior the tip i in basic terms mentioned cos shouting makes ME sense extra suitable lol!!
