They report on what they want, and when they want. They can give a very harsh view of something, and people would be extremely opposed to this event that occurred which they portrayed whereas if they portrayed it in a different light then the public wouldnt have so much of an outcry which changes the public's opinion and in turn changes public agenda. For example, say a person euthanizes a dying man and the media portrays it as a killing of a helpless old man, the people would protest against euthanasia and everyone would feel that the old man was murdered. But if the old man was dying and they showed that he had asked for help dying and he was paralyzed and couldn't control his bowels and whatnot, there would be more sympathy towards the person that killed the old man. Everyone believes now that co2 is going make New England a tropical Paradise in forty thousand years.

Also the way have covered the Iraq war has got the public screaming surrender surrender surrender!

Seriously, most people are pretty gullible (read: "stupid"). They uncritically accept what they see on TV or hear on radio. Cognitive dissonance ensures that most people will onlyhear things that reinforce their own preconceptions.

That's how the Republicraps and the Demoncrats whip up their constituents... If a new thought struck most people... they'd be 3 weeks in the hospital recovering.
