it's not popular now, it's been popular for quite a while now. This is because it's got a good beats, rhythms and rhymes. It's part of the generations culture which includes dancing to that music and dressing. There is an attraction to that lifestyle. Those born in this generation are just used to it and just see it as art of their own identities.

I haven't heard any new R&B, I've always liked 'the blues' but hiphop...makes me nuts. Same rythum, same beat, same sound,,,that is bad enough, but the words are sick and disgusting. I'm just glad they can't be understood except by those who work at it.

Who knows why it's popular. It's a kind of music with soul, and rhythm. Only the good rap and r&b songs anyway. It shouldn't bother you. You're probably a country loving robot like a lot of the respondents on here.
