Good question! First the cat. Things to know, you should clean the litter box out at least once a day (scoop) and empty it at least once a week, clean it and refill it. The cat will learn what time you feed it, via it morning or night, it will expect to be fed and will not stop bothering you until you do! It will more than likely sleep on your pillow above your head or close to you, it will putt most of the night and possibly need your body with its feet while your trying to sleep or relax, it may scratch the heck out of your furniture! If you don't get it fixed it will whine to get out of the house to go make baby's or if a male get into fights and come home after several days all scared up. Until you train it, he will jump on counter tops tables what have you. You can put food and water out and leave a cat home for a day or two
Second the dog: The dog needs to be trained, house broken and walked, dogs have lots of energy and need to burn it off by running and playing. You will have to spend much time with a dog, we run our dogs at least every other day, so if you don't have the time be kind, don't get a dog! good dogs steam from good upbringing as puppies, they are not just born well mannered! It takes time and energy on your part, it is a sad thing to see a dog that was such a cute little puppy and once grown an unruly sad dog!!! Don't get the dog if you are not going to care for it properly, get the dog if you want a loyal companion! If going away for the night weekend what have you and can't take the dog you may have to pay to board it, male dogs can be known to fight with other dogs!
Three: Get a fish if you can't commit to either!
So the question is should you get a dog or a cat, we can take our dogs anywhere, same with a cat, they can be taught tricks, our cat even walked on a leash! (so did the rabbit) But I am an animal person grew up on a farm.
My answer is get the pet that you have time for, not all dogs and cats are the same! Different breads have different traits and needs. We had a Rag Doll and two Linx Point Siamese cats, Our dogs are hunting type dogs, our grand puppy is a Jack, loads of energy but a great dog!

im a cat person personally but it depends on your schedule and way of life. A cat can be good to have and is less in cost. A dog is good but expensive but can be fun. I have both and i have had a dog a lot longer then a cat and they just seem to be easier than cats.

You should get a cat. They are easier to take care of and are probably less likely to get killed if you take care of it right. Dogs would make a mess.

I am not a cat person but cats are alot less maintence then dogs. Dogs need alot of attention, need to be trained and need to be walked. If you don't have alot of time to spend with a dog then don't get one.

I say you should find something better to do with your time rather than coming here and asking such nonsense questions as this and your others one about what to do with the dog you just killed then again about how to hide the smell of you burning it. Must be very boring in your world.

Being a extreme animal lover and a animal advocate,, if you have to ask such a ridiculous question you do not need either one. If this is some sort of attention seeker question , you will get it but be ware it will come with a price to pay.

Dogs rule.........but you have to be 100% commited to be a dog parent. They are time and money. They demand alot of your attention. If you don't want that, stick with a plant.
