Depends in what you use it, but even without knowing I will recommend you AMD... but if you compare it with an Intel Core 2 Duo definitely go with Intel.... (Athlon 64 X2 is better than Pentium D but Core 2 Duo practically has no challenger, at least not at this time)...

I have both chips on 2 pc's and i would say that the amd 64 4200 is the fastest of the 2 chips

I would recommend an Intel any day,

Intel, run at a lower temperature and have a long life span, where as Amd run at a higher temperature and do not last as long.

INTEL and also both INTEL and AMD have recently introduced new processors specifically for 64 bit. You should visit both sites

AMD Athalon, because it is a 64 bit, and is typically cheaper than Intel

the 4200 isnt that fast, the intel is probably better.
get an fx-62 instead
