"The mind is its own place, and in itself can make
a heaven of hell,
a hell of heaven."
--John Milton

I doubt that there is just one cause, I would think that the biggest would be loss of control over oneself or their surroundings, which leads to frustration, which leads to stress, it is kind of a snow ball effect.

A perceived unexpected failure of reason for the actions of another, conceived correctly or in error, is the first moment of anger. There after an addictive cycle for anger may ensue, but that has a latent neuro-chemical condition contingent on conditions I do not have ready at this moment.

Anger symbolized in contradistinction to other emotions:

+ + + + = Love
- + + + = Sexuality
- - + + = Sadism
- - - + = Anger
- - - - = Defense (fear)

The final plus in anger is the identification targeted something, living or inanimate for its solution, a means-whereby, and hence the posit sign. The negate sign '-' is for opposition to resistance of one kind or another or in combination. The posit sign '+' is for activities that do not negate in any sense or description, but build, fabricate or create, repair or any other activities with no sense or intuition of negativity. The exception for this is the negation for the negation wherein the means-whereby negates something negative, known to negate, a negator; the means-whereby is posited.

Anger most often comes from our "rights" being stepped on. It can also come when someone blocks goals we have made.

This is one reason why should should not make a goal of something it takes someone else to do. Example, I can desire that my wife have dinner ready at 5 PM each night. I should not make that a goal since it requires another person to do something. (I would also have the obligation of being here for diner if I asked her to do that or calling if I was going to be late)

We can see some of this in the book of James

James 4

1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

In short, we put our own interest above anyone else. This often stems from pride because what we want is far more important then what anyone else wants.

However...we need to also remember that there is good anger. Sometimes it would be wrong not to become angry.
I have written about this:

Cause Of Anger
Anger makes everybody its slave and victim. It breaks the friendship of even very intimate friends. It even induces wives to quarrel with their husbands and make them file suits. It excites all. It holds sway more or less over the whole world and the Devatas also.

Anger destroys reason and makes man do things which cannot be dreamt of. Under the influence of anger man abuses, insults and even murders his father, brother, wife, Guru or king and repents afterwards.

Anger influenced even Hanuman the mightiest Brahmachari to burn Lanka. He lost his understanding and then repented “Alas! I have burnt the whole of Lanka under the influence of anger. This fire might have burnt Mother Sita also. What shall I do now? How can I return without Janaki Devi? I became a victim to anger. How powerful is anger? I am a powerful Brahmachari. I have destroyed passion to its very root and branch and yet I have not controlled anger. How powerful it is! It is more powerful than passion.”

Too much loss of semen is the chief cause of irritability and anger. Passion is the root and anger the stem. You will have to destroy the root (passion) first, then the stem (anger) will die by itself. A passionate man is more angry. A man who has wasted his seminal energy becomes irritated soon for little things even. A Brahmachari who has preserved his Veerya always keeps a balanced mind. He has a cool brain at all times.

Eradicate anger. Manifest inner spiritual strength. Realise Satchidananda Atman. Glory unto those who have rooted out their anger and attained knowledge of the Self! -Conquest of Anger By SRI SWAMI SIVANANDA-

The root cause of anger and unhappiness is an unmet need. Everyone has certain personal needs that need to be met, and when they are not achieved it creates negative emotions.

Finding the specific need involves asking "why" until the answer is found. It can be harder than it sounds, but asking "why" can lead to the emotional or physical need that has not been met, and one can then concentrate on fixing the situation.

Powerlessness. If you have the power to effectively manage a situation that isn't going your way, you don't get angry. You only get angry when you don't have that power. If you truly were in complete control of every aspect of your life, there'd be no point in getting angry about anything.

the main reason that leads to fear is influences.....

from seeing others getting angry, one thinks that it is the right way to let out feelings that one has bottled up.

the other reason is excitement.

lets take a person wanting to see kelly clarkson.
if she did not get this chance, she will feel dissapointed, thus, bad mood.

lastly fear.....there could be certain circumstances that makes one aggresive or shy..... like locking one in his room.

this accident causes too much trauma on that person and makes that person change in order not to get a similar incident.

for example, rape
the person feels that he needs to be more strong or aggresive so that no other person couls touch her, not even her hair.....

so i hope this could help u.
