Poverty is an economical, social class, environmental and political issue.
All of these factors play roles in Poverty.
Many people believe that poverty is caused by laziness.
But many times it is lack of opportunity.
Many people in this country live paycheck to paycheck, meaning that the loss of one paycheck could make them homeless or push them into poverty.
Poverty is a vicious cycle and can be passed down from one generation to the next.

Income inequality is another factor, tax disparity another.
In some areas of the country there just are no jobs but less than or right at minimum wage.
Increasing cost of living and utility bills as well as the rising cost of health care play major roles.

I will not include third world poverty here because it is important to realize how many people of this country are living in poverty, a situation that in a country as rich as ours should be an issue of history. Rural poor and inner city poor. It is an enormous problem. So many children in this rich country of ours go to bed hungry every night. They do not have good shoes, or school clothes. They go to school without breakfast.
The highest population of homeless people in this country are women and children.

Poverty can be a result of many things. Some people are born in countries where there are higher rates of poverty and have it simply dealt to them. Some people have trouble staying on a job. Others may have lost all they have in bad investments. Poverty is also subjective. What one person calls poverty another may not. Voltaire once said, " The military is the one place where the poor can learn the meaning of wealth and rich can learn the meaning of poverty.

First of all, balance. There will always be rich, there will always be poor, and then you have those who will fall in between.

Second, power and control. Those with it will not allow it to be taken so laws and policies are changed to ensure that it never will be. The rich stay richer, the poor get nothing.

Third, some people just have a lack of desire and would rather live off of government handouts at the taxpayers' expense.

If you're too worried about how youre going to SURVIVE, you arent going to get educated. And if you're not going to get educated, youre not going to get a comfortable job. And if youre not going to get a comfortable job, you're not going to be able to have the luxury of getting educated so that you can get a better job. And the way our society is set up, if you're not educated you won't get a decent job and will have to toil day in and day out just to survive.

It's a vicious cycle.
