When I boot up my pc it always shuts down and I have to turn it on and off. What can cause this?

My desktop is a pentium 4 with 512mb of RAM. The pc also shuts down sometime when I'm using it too.

Take the computer to a service center. Truthfully the problem culd be hardware or software related. Unfortunately these types of questions do not hold a simple answer. If you do not have experience repairing a computer, than just take it to a service center.

Virus... try Trend Micro Pc Cilllin, or try getting the windows updates.

Reason could be in mother board or power supply. First, check all fans.
