Eventually they would be over run by murder rape and thieves cause they would want to hug every body after they committed a crime but let's see how long it would take them to wake up and become republican.

If you did that...
1) The island would be the most prosperous, influential, and wealthiest country. It would have a superb legal system, and people living there would have negative Carbon emissions.
2) America would become the United States of Hicks and Idiots, with Bill O'Reilly as president, Michael Savage as vice, and Dick Cheney would be demoted to secretary of defense.

Or maybe just surround the country with a gigantic wall with orders to the guard towers to shoot to kill anything approaching the wall from either side. You could then declare a power to the rich and s**** the masses dictatorship and allow those who disagree to leave.
