I would like to make bookmarks to sell but I'm not sure where to sell them and how. I'm planning on making beaded ones and paper ones. Any ideas on how to do this? Any tips on making them? Anyone interested in buying them?

No stupid answers please.

You seem to have no idea about making book marks except you want to sell them. Since you know so little about them what made you want to sell the?

Okay look, go to a couple books stores and look at the book marks they have. Notice how they are made. There are a billion and one ways to make book marks. You have got to get a plan.

Where to sell? First you will need samples of your product. NO onw will buy if they can't see hwat youare selling. Try to sell them at books stores, gift boutiques, jewelry stores, novelty stores. Try selling quantities to dealers through Ebay. Flea markets. If you have a way of personalizing them, like put a companies name on them you mihgt try to get businesses to buy them from you with thier names on them for advertising and customer gifts.

Now would you like us to come there and make them for you? :)

Beaded Bookmarks For Sale

Bookmarks are something that needs to be rather flat, so not to damage the book. Beaded ones may not be the best idea.Couldn't you use your beading skills for something like a bracelet? Have you beaded before. Do you know how long it takes to make something, even a bookmark? I don't mean to discourage you, but I think something other than a bookmark, might be a better way to go.

I do altered art and mostly paper (scrapbooking) crafting and love doing bookmarks. I don't sell them mostly just as gifts but if I do want to sell them, I'll start with Ebay and see how people respond to them. It'll give you an idea at least. Also, I would bring some samples to small novely store such scrapbooking store, beads store any small arts and crafts store. And maybe small type bookstore, a mom and pop type store. I would start with those first. I hope that give you an idea.

I make and sell beaded bookmarks. I used the elastic cord (it is clear in color). On one end I put some type of charm, the a couple of larger beads. In the body of the bookmark I use "bugle beads" and thread them on the string. At the other end use the same type of larger beads from the first end without the charm. They are quick to make and I sell a ton of them. I have my products in stores in my state and sell them to friends and co-workers...they are a big hit!!
Good luck to you...

I used to make & sell them but mine were a little different. I took beautiful braided stiff ribon and glued silk flowers on the top. I've seen similar ones made of tapestry and had tassles on the bottom........beautiful! You can sell them at the flea market like I did or send them out to one of the 12 week shows like Abram Demarree in Haworth NJ. Type in out of state craft shows and try to get emails for them. A lot will allow you to ship your crafts to them and take a % comission. You do NOT have to be there to sell inperson. Type in the name of your town or the nearest city and /local craft shows. Do a search to see what is nearby. Also keep your eye on the craft show listed in your local paper. I did all the above for 20 years and you can make some good money doing this if you have a well made product and it's something there is demand for. Good luck.

Sounds like a great idea! I'd buy a lovely handmade bookmark. Make sure you practice your craft, try out your sales routine on some friends, and get selling! Good luck!
