I have a 2001 Kia Sephia, And We are having a few problems with it the 2 that really concern me are (1) I will have tuned my car on and it will start to Idle Higher and higher, and if I shift it into revierse it JERKS! The (2nd) Is sometimes when I turn my car off like today and go inside after i have put gas in (or anything) And then come back to turn it on it will NOT turn on, The battery is not dead cause the sterion is on and everything but it wont even try to turn itself over (I turn the key and NOTHING happens) What do you think is wrong or recommend to do. I can fix things myself on my car as long as i know the problem.....Anyone who can help please give me an idea of what could be wrong.... Also I prefer not to take it to a shop cause it can get pritty pricey I know this cause my dad is a tow truck driver. Thanks for any advise

I had orgally baught it from a guy and it had been fixed from a previous car accident and it would take a couple trys to start sometimes, but would always start. Also It was involved in a car accident a year ago a plow truck driver had hit the side of me and peeled away the drivers side of my car, We just had it fixed (body dammage) about 1 month back and about 2 weeks after it started to do all this, And if i let it sit about 5 mins it will start again, I know it isn't the batterie cause it is brand new. Hope this helps in giving me answers. Thanks

first, that car may be under warranty. call your local dealer with vin(on the drivers door jamb) and mileage to find out.
Sounds like the tranny is having some trouble, from the reverse jerk. If the idling comes back to normal before too long(30 secs) you are probably OK. Otherwise, check on a throttle control sensor.
for #2, sounds like ignition switch trouble. Otherwise, you'd at least hear your starter grinding at it.

answer to [2] is you have an automatic shut off valve that when the engine reaches a real high temp. it automatically shuts down the ignition. this accessory is built in to the computer of your car.
you can try the heat test on your computer to see if it is the computer or a another part of it. or you can use another test on the computer to test and see if it is worknig properly. and you can also retrieve the trouble codes off of it also.
[1] the reason your car jerks is because of the high idle.
you do definetely have a computer problem. check all wiring to and from your computer. and also any wire coming into contavt with heat. make sure they are well insulated.
if all this checks out ok. you need to re-set your computer. renmember when you undo the battery. 5 min or more then you could need to re-program your computer.

1 your throttle cable is sticking or may have a broken or disconnected pull back spring. 2 your battery may well have enough power to play the stereo and run the lights but still lack the necessary power to spin the starter. make sure you have it in neutral or park.
