I used to until I made a lifestyle choice. Blood is still safe, just don't give. I donated over 50 times. The only track marks on my arms are from all of the blood I have donated.

I just donated about a month ago. I had not donated in years. We had a blood drive at the school where I teach, so I decided to give.

I have read that when a man gives blood it can help his chances for heart disease. Women after menopause greatly increase in disposition to heart problems, due to a buildup of iron which in too large a quantity can cause high cholesterol. You could say that a regular loss of blood depletes the body's supply of iron just enough for your own good. That's why I give at least every 6 months.
