Something that is not too messy and that doesn't take up a ton of time.
Thanks!

Contact a local nursing home or childrens hospital and ask if your class could send cards and how many you'll need. Then buy inexpensive Christmas cards, and have your class write a short note and sign the card. You could then arrange to drop them off. Doesn't matter that they are not personal, just matters that someone was thinking of them.

Could your class go on a trip to a hospital and sing a few christmas carols in the rooms??

If you are looking for a "gift" what my teacher did in 6th grade was have us make a large design/ornament out of white 8 1/2 x 11 paper which we cut out, embellished with christmas symbols from old christmas cards, and glitter. Inside we had to write a story about Christmas (made up). OR you could ask each child to write about what christmas means to them. We took all of them home for Christmas, graded as gave them as gifts to our parents or a grandparent. My Mom gave me mine and I still have it......

A really cool thing to do is a gift exchange...or a game called the pirate game or something like that. Everyone brings a present and puts it under a tree or in a pile. Then, they draw a number out of a hat. The person who gets number one picks a gift out from the pile or whatever you have. They are stuck with this gift. Then, number two goes and they pick a gift. If they don't like their gift, they can take number one's gift away from them, and give number one theirs. Then number three goes and if they don't like theirs, they can take one or twos and so on and so forth. It all depends on how long of a class period you have. Its a fun game though.

hmmm.Maybe a mini christmas party with lots of fun games and prizes or maybe have a Christmas kantata and group them so they could compete with each other. They could put on unique costumes using recycable materials. That would be fun.
