Depends on the make. Some lipsticks dry the lips, such as the colour stay ones.
Lip glosses don't damage, but again they can dry the lips if it's a cheap brand.
I suppose both can damage the lips if you are allergic to any of it's ingredients.

Yes in some cases with some people; you may be allergic to any of the chemicals / ingredients in the lipstick or lip gloss. Read the label. I know that in many cases people are allergic to the sunblock that is in the lip gloss or lipstick. This creates a mild burning sensation and the lips will start to peel slightly. If this occurs try to use organic lipstick, lip gloss or lip-balm.

No. Most lip sticks, in fact I think all of them, morsturize the lips. And as for lipgloss, it's like kinda meant for morturize and hydranate the lips, which is always a good thing. Also, it looks quite pretty!

No neither one will damage your lips. They help to put moisture into your lips.

No, poor skin care does. You don't want dry cracked, pealing lips that look like two split sausages do you?

No, not that I know of unless you are allergic to them. Some folks use products that have bad reactions and you see them putting on the same chemicals to try to make them better but only make them worse.
