The review answer sheet gives r=2.38
I need to see the work, I cannot get this answer. Thanks.

5 ^2r-3 =17
(2r-3)ln 5=ln 17
2r-3=ln 17 / ln 5
2r=3+ln 17/ ln 5
r=(3+ln 17 / ln 5)/2=5 ^2r-3 =3.260

5 ^2r-3 =17
<=> 5^2r = 20
<=> 2r = log base 5 of (2^2 * 5)
<=> 2r = 1 + 2log base 5 of 2
<=> r = 1/2 + log base 5 of 2

You have too many questions..

Once again im assuming 2r - 3 is the argument and 5 is the base.

This can be written as 5^17 = 2r - 3

and whoah thats a big number so you can solve it.
