For freshwater there are many that you can get. Most varieties of tetras are peaceful yet very colorful.
You can also go with dwarf gouramis, rainbowfish, mollies, guppies, or swordtails. All of which are peaceful.

I would say that anylivebearers and maybe a bettafish are easy to keep
