Using Riemannian geometry, a cube is no different from a sphere.
It is also proven that no geometry is superior than others, all are equivalent. There is no objective reason to just use Euclidean geometry-what is taught in Secondary, and high schools.
Therefore, saying the world is a cube makes no difference from saying it a cube.

The visible universe seems to be a very huge sphere that includes all the objects in the sky.
We have to note that the mathematical definition of a straight line is that it is a part of a circle whose diameter is infinity
As the boundaries of the universe can not be reached, Thus diameter of the universal sphere is very very big to be figured, i.e. diameter of the universe is infinity and the surface of the universe is a spherical one whose curvature is zero.
.The boundaries of the universe ends to a dimensionally infinite curved surface , i.e. flat surfaces.
You are right, the very huge universe can not be in other than a cubical shape.
It is the absolute that we can't reach.
