You know how in oral birth control commercials, there's always that disclaimer that you shouldn't take it if you think you're pregnant? How would taking oral contraceptives harm the baby, or you?

Relax, but stop taking the pills if you suspect you are pregnant. It will most likely not effect the baby's development. One of my best friends was on the pill when she concieved and didn't know until she was 7 weeks along or so. She now has a beautiful, healthy baby girl with no developmental delays or special needs. These things happen sometimes...the important thing is to stop taking those pills and switch over to prenatals if indeed you are pregnant.

It wouldn't do anything.

They say that because you shouldn't START birth control while you're pregnant, since your hormones are already all out of whack. Plus, if you're trying to start BC while pregnant, you need some serious education, not birth control.

The only thing it might do is affect the baby's development, because of the extra hormones. Some parts might develop earlier or later, or not sufficiently. But no, it wouldn't cause a miscarriage, and no, it wouldn't hurt the woman.

I conceived 3 of my 4 kids while actively taking birth control. They are 4....6.....and 3 now. The only affects we've noticed are that they're hairy. Other than that, they're fine and are developing normal.

i'm not exactly sure how it can harm you, but if you are pregnant it can make your baby have birth defects.
