I want suggestions on what is a good time for a 16 yr. old to be back home in the evening.
My mom lets me stay out by myself until 7, and with friends until 10 or so. (in fall and winter, later if it's the warmer months)
I guess I'm ok with it... it's better than being 15 and having to be home by dark. :P But I can't wait until I can be out as late as I want!
So what do you think? Would you say earlier or later?

Most of you are right. And I have snuck out after midnight but nothing happens (in fact it was really boring) so unless I have someone to be out with I usually don't need to be out later.
She's pretty cool about it, she knows going home too early ruins any social life I have!
And if I meet someone I want to chat with until later, I always give her a call and she lets me.

I have to disagree about teenagers not needing a curfew. Yeah, we're almost adults, but most of us grow up too fast anyway. Even if we aren't in with the bad crowds, bad things still have a possibility of happening. We see ourselves as capable, sometimes even invincibly strong, but they still see us as their children.

I think that's actually really fair, maybe a little later on weekends or during the summer. If you're responsible and mature then she's more likely to be more lax on letting you stay out longer, just one thing coming from a mom, stay in touch with her and let her know what you're doing and she'll trust you more.

Well im 16 too and i wish i could stay out at all times of the night... but i suppose I understand why my mom would want me home. She usually lets me stay out pretty late, 1 AM or so if my boyfriends giving me a ride home, but she stays up til i get there and i feel guilty for making her stay awake. I guess she wants to make sure i get home safe.

For me, it depends on who I'm with and what day it is (week days/weekends). If it's a weekday, my parents are really strict and I can't stay out for long. But on weekends, I'll usually be able to stay out however late I want (usually about 10-11) if I'm with a group of friends and I let them know.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Screw people who say that's too early. And yes, it kicks *** staying out late. Haha, just usually more (actually, there is really less but still) to do.

Nothing good happens after midnight. It's true!
7-8 is early 9 is safer 10 is safe 11 is pushing it.
Good luck!

Listen to your Mom. Why do you want to stay out longer? There is not anything out there after midnight. You will find as you grow older that staying out late isn't has fun as you thought it would be.

I think that us teenagers should'nt have a curfew because we are almost old enough to make are own decisions. as long as a person makes it home safely everything should be fine.
