All these "rods" are, are insects or objects moving to fast for the camera to get a clear image.
Anyone making any other claim is either someone perpetrating a hoax or someone desperately in need of some reality.
-I'm not debunking UFO's or cryptozoology as I think there is much in need of explanation, but this claim is just ludicrous. And anyone with basic knowledge of photography would agree.

There is a good chance that rods are living creatures living in our atmosphere, but they are extemely difficult to see. I have the ablility to see some of these things, but most of them look more like swiftly moving balls of light. You might be able to see them too. On a day with a very clear, blue sky, take a look at the sky, then try not to focus---you might be amazed at what you see!

I think I've heard alittle about that. Try coasttocoastam.com They've got the shadow people. So they might have that, too.
Yeah, just got it. They have someone named Jose Escamilla. And he's got a slideshow, also photo's. And it's all free.
Escamilla says rods are finned, and gelatinous, they live part of they're life in the water.
And they have been on earth a very long time. I think he said back to pre-historic times.

These are birds or insects that are moving fast enough relative to the camera speed to stretch out into "rod" shapes. The ripple shapes to the side are just wing flaps happening at those spots.

I remember seeing a story about this on the Los Angeles news a few years ago, but I think that they've been pretty successfully debunked as photographic artifacts.
