Im going to leave to Germany in about 2 months to be with my hubby in the military. i want to do schooling but Im not sure if I have to be somewhere near the school to do online classes? How does it work? Do I have to come in at times to take paper tests? Should I even consider it if I leave it?

It really depends on the school itself. It should work as long as you have access to the internet. If you have a school in mind about applying for enrollment, I recommend talking to their distance learning office staff. I know from my brother who got his MBA online with a major public university that both the assignments and exams were turned in online. They can help answer your questions more since the policies differ from place to place. Good luck!

Some on-line programs do require a campus visit (for example, Gonzaga University) at some point during the program. But many do not. I just graduated from Indiana Wesleyan's on-line program and I have never visited the campus. They sent my books by FedEx (something else to consider if leaving the country). I had classmates who were not in the U.S.; some IWU students are serving in the military while they are completing their programs.

Everything else was done on-line, by mail, or phone, including financial aid. All I needed was access to the Internet through a high-speed connection. Some programs require you to be on-line at a certain time each week, but IWU did not.

Many schools offer regular classes on line so you might consider that. Some of them do require proctored exams. However, I would like to think that they would make some exceptions for military families.

Just investigate the options thoroughly. On-line programs are expensive and many of them require you to do all their classes, regardless of previous credits.

Good luck and Godspeed to you and your hubby.
