The government of the United States has implemented some major programs and laws to fight the war on Terror. These include the Patriot Act, The NSA Surveillance program, increase executive powers for the duration of the war, the drive to build a fence between the US and Mexico, Guantanamo Bay for detention of terrorists, secret and harsh CIA interrogations, etc. I think that these programs damage our image in the world and at home. It is obvious that many of these plans and programs limit personal freedoms and go against many values of our Constitution. This is evident because almost every program enacted has been ruled unconstitutional when the case has went to court. We are now a divided country, and our actions, in my opinion have weakend America. Can it be that our fear of another attack is causing us to give up our values of a free, lawful and morally right country?

the WAR ON TERROR was led astray by a STUPID MAN. how can you defeat terrorists when you are creating them? osama and al qaeda are living it up in the mountains of Afghanistan and along the Pakistan border while 150000 civilians and 2946 American soldiers are dead, 23000 wounded, some maimed for life in a war that has nothing to do with the WAR ON TERROR.

and as if that wasn't enough ........ we are giving this STUPID MORON the right to wiretap our homes and legally torture people and deny them due process ......... IS THIS AMERICA? THE LAND OF THE FREE ......... THE CHAMPIONS OF HUMAN RIGHTS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD

yes something positive ........ if you go to a city garbage dump ....... and if you look hard enough ....... you will find a speck of gold dust ....... would you have question the media if they support the war? why questions them when they are reporting the truth? people are dying over there ........ it's one bloody mess

I would have to say it's a combination of the two. On the one hand, we have a more barbarous side that would just love to nuke the crap out of anybody who says boo backwards to us. That type of person makes short wars and cares little about humanity, and fortunately most of them are not in American positions of power.

Then there are the types who want only peace. These people tend to have gotten beaten up a lot as kids, and they carry that same disdain for confrontation into adulthood. Unfortunately, once we're in a war, it's too late to be especially diplomatic. So this type of person can do little more than shake their heads. War is almost never a good idea.

But wait, there's a third (of course, very general) type of person, who wants to make war but has too much humanity to do "what needs to be done." That would be the general political consensus in any country who has bitten off more than they can chew in this political types of wars.

Who really believes that targeting a fixed point will stop people whose entire mode of operation involves stealthy movements and sudden attacks? How do we fight this "terrorist," when we have no clear definition of what he even is?

Okay, we really are defeating ourselves. Unfortunately, I doubt any politicians will be reading this, so it's all pretty theoretical. But this thread could turn into an awesome rant-fest.

Our country has been weakend by the media and the spin they put on everything for ratings because people think that the media is an honest outlet of info and it's so far from that it really is sad.
They spin politics to make the country question what's going on then they spin any info negatively so people think there is nothing but bad things going on over there why don't they interview soldiers or Iraqi's that have something pos to say the reason is that would under mind what they need for ratings.

Who is winning?
The Iraqi/Muslim world was given a huge gift by the US. What did they do with it?
Blowing up bus stops, kidnapping aid workers, cutting of the heads of truck drivers, killing children. Why?
Why couldn't they just seize the moment?
You micro manage with these post/questions. Look at the big picture!
You are divided because you are lazy. The Democratic Party is Lazy. I am not divided and stand strong in support if our troops and the war on Muslim Terrorist.
Question is what would you do? I personally would send more troops and not allow the Insurgents any leeway. I would force the Iraqi's to step it up. I would force the Arabs to take responsibility.

The war on terror is just a propaganda tool like the war on drugs and can never be won because there is no final final objective to be captured.
It just gives powerful countries the reason to interfere in the affairs of weaker ones.

The Black Ops government of the United States has implemented a control of what you think. You have been brain washed if you beleve what the goverment says happen on 9-11-2001. That was to shock you and feed your mind lies as to who and why thay did what did.( "unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth" A. Einstein)

They have been laughing since Bin Laden got away with murdering 3000 civilians and got rid of Saddam for them so they could set up a recruiting ground in Iraq.

You know that Bin Laden loves the fact we invaded Iraq. It was the best thing in the world for Al Qaeda recruitment or recruitment into jihad in general. Bush played right into his hands. It is Bush who is playing a huge role in damaging Americas reputation among other things.

Terrorists cannot defeat us. We are defeating ourselves. Pres Bush has allowed leaked classified programs to go unpunished. He has allowed the liberal media to attempt to turn the country against the war.

This coming from someone who voted for him twice.

I don't care if they build a clone army or death ray. It takes one goof ball with shoe bomb in Starbucks to scare entire country and come with something stupid like terror alert system in rainbow color that sings 'somewhere over the rainbow' before nuclear bombs falls on my head. No one knows 'right way' to fight terrorism and shouldn't assume that we do.
