Well... what did you do to your knee? If you over extended it (which is what it sounds like you did), then it will take about a month or so to heal. You should go to a doctor to make sure you didn't tear a ligament or tendon. But for right now heat will make it feel better. If you have 2 hot water bottles put one under & one on top of your knee. If you don't have water bottles you can do it the ghetto way & microwave a wet towel (let it cool a bit before you use it) & wrap it around your knee. Wrap a plastic bag over it to seal the heat in. Don't try to straighten it all the way & don't walk on it too much until it starts feeling better (be REAL careful when going up & down stairs). Advil or Motrin will help with the pain. But seriously - see a doctor, your knee won't stop hurtin' completely until it's healed & it's really easy to re-injure your knee when it's in this condition. I hope you feel better soon!

You may be overweight. First you need to buy arch support of Dr. Scholls. You can get it from the store. Price around $14 - $15. Put the arch support to your running shoes. If you don't have serious knee problem, it should go away slowly.

Go see a doctor. I slipped on the porch stairs while carrying my grand daughter. I went to the doctor and had x-rays taken and found out that I tore a ligament. Taking physical therapy now and am feeling better.

you should probably go see a doctor to see what is wrong...also, if u are an athlete and run a lot, the best thing to do is ice before/after practice for about 15 min. my knees use to hurt before when i ran a lot and it stoped after i iced every day.
