This is an old stove has cast iron doors not the glass doors you see on the newer models. Is it best to open doors or to keep them close

Biggest concern is carbon monoxide gas that may leak from the stove into the living area of your home. It is a silent and odorless killer. Without knowing the model or condition of your stove, it is impossible to give you any operating instructions. Best advice is to make sure you use a carbon monoxide dectector to be on the safe side.

Good luck with your stove.

Are you talking cook stove or heating stove? Cook stove leave shut for sure. Heating stove most cases leave closed but you can open it than close it witch ever way it puts out the most heat do it that way. If it gets to hot close or visaversa.
