The Romans pretty much copied the Greeks in everything. Like cultural hijacking. In fact they went so far as to make exact copies of say a Greek sculpture and then completely destroy the original. Eventually the Romans began to vaguely differ in style with the Greeks only in that they weren't as apprehensive to carve a sculpture of say an elderly person or paint a "less than perfect" face. The impact of Greek architecure, philosophy and art has permeated throughout history for centuries and will continue to do so. I'd say Greek architecture and obviously the advent of democracy are the most profound aspects in America. Look at the columns in the Lincoln Memorial or many courthouses and townhalls strewn throughot America. Its astounding.

Well.. for one thing, most of Rome's sculptures are heavily influenced by the Greek sculptures. But I don't know much about it influencing modern American sculptures. If they are then Ancient Greece would definitely be the source of influence.
