You can open Internet Explorer (should already be installed on your computer and can be found in the "All Programs folder" in the Start menu), and go to Tools > Internet Options and click on the "Advanced" tab to change the default browser there. You can also set the homepage by going to Tools > Internet Options.

You have just made AOL your default browser. To set IE as your default browser follow the steps below.
Open tools menu click Internet options.
Click Programs Tab
Somewhere in the middle you find a button "Make Default", Click it and check mark the default browser below the button.
Click Aplly and press ok.
Done enjoy, you are back to IE now.
You can do it from Control Panel Too. Just go there and open Internet Options.

Sign on to your ISP. Minimize the AOL (cr)application. Double-click on Internet Explorer and you should be able to use IE as opposed to AOL's (i own your computer browser which uses IE as a backend anyway). I hate those people.

#1 do a hard format and then reinstall everything from the recovery disk if you have it and switch to something else as an isp AOL is an undercover operating system trying to exterminate Microsoft Windows from the planet Earth, On a couple of my last computer's that had both microsft windows and aol on them the hard drive usually failed within 8 weeks or less.

AOL is like a virus - once it invades your system, it is almost impossible to completely get rid of. About the only way is to do a complete wipe and reinstall. I have not touched AOL since version 4.5!
