Okay...

1. A good foundation is where you can't tell you're wearing it...but it leaves your skin mostly flawless, you can't see the line or anything...and blends into the colour of your neck.
Another thing, leave the concealer until AFTER you apply your foundation. I used to put it on first and had cakey bits all over my face. Put it on after your foundation and make sure it's the same colour as your foundation. BTW, when you put your foundation around your eye, dab it otherwise you pull the skin around your eye. (Cosmo taught me that one!)

2. For those of us on a buget, we can't get all the different types of make up cosmo recommends. Not all concealers cover both blemishes and under-eye circles, so see what you need to cover the most (what you're most prone to, ie. if you get 8 hours of sleep a night choose one to cover your blemishes). For blemishes choose a thicker one so it stays on, under-eye circles use one which illuminates the skin.
I use CoverGirl Fresh Complexion Under Eye Concealer, it works for pimples too.

3. For your eyes, choose a gold/bronze eyeshadow, they illuminate the eye and look....Au Naturelle. Blend it across your eyelid using a cotton bud or your finger, USE YOUR RING FINGER SO IT DOESN'T PULL.
There's a Toffee eyeshadow I've seen which is the perfect bronze. I think it's Stila.

4. For eyeliner, you don't have to apply it, sometimes your make up looks better without eyeliner but if you are going to use one, match the bronze eyeshadow with a bronze/brown liner or a black. With the black one, you can apply it to the inner rim of your eye, I only apply my eyeliner halfway (outside corner to the centre). Applying it to the inner rim does make your eyes look smaller. If you're using the gold tones apply it along the bottom lashline and the inner rim. Don't apply it too heavy.
L'Oreal Paris has the best eyeliners I've found. Kohl works the best.

5. For Mascara you want something that's light and that doesn't make them cling together - Obvious giveaway. If your lashes are light, then use a brown or a clear one which makes them longer, if you have dark lashes, it's safe to use a black one. I use a mousse one which means that every lash gets a coat and it's waterproof.
I use an Avon one. I think it's Daring definition mousse.

5. For lips, again, you can mix a little bronze eyeshadow wuth a clear gloss on the back of your hand. Use a lipstick brush to apply it though. If you don't like the idea of the eyeshadow use a clear lip gloss which makes your lips POP!
I use Nivea lip care, simple but works.

LOL, seems like I've written a novel. Can you tell I tend to help out my friends a lot??
: )

Mandy, I use a waterproof mascara because it won't smudge and leave black marks under your eyes (esp. if you're going to dance and get sweaty, etc.) I use Cover Girl Multiplying Waterproof and follow it up with an eyelash curler for extra length and definition. If you don't like mascara or have to get used to the idea, just get a clear mascara. It will at least give your lashes a boost. As far as eye shadow, depends on the color of your eyes but as like anything if you overdo it, people will mistake you for a circus clown or think you're trying too hard. Use a small makeup brush to apply powdered eye shadow (not the applicators that come with the shadow) because you can get more exact, and use and lighter color on the lid and underbrow, followed by a darker shade in the crease for definition. I also add a little bit of a different color to the very outside corners of the lids, using a color that would blend well with whatever color I'm wearing. Make sure you blend the colors in together for a smoother color transition, not like one color standing over and above the other. In any event, less is more and you'd rather underdo than overdo. Good luck!

All these people have had really good suggestions, and I recommend going to a makeup specialty store like Sephora. They have assistants that are trained to help you get the right colors and amounts for you. But be careful, sometimes they try to get you more stuff than you actually need just so you'll spend more money there. For putting it on, they do sometimes show you how at Sephora if you ask. At Nordstorms' makeup area, almost all of the brands have a makeover station you can sit down at and they'll show you what products to use. Normally they charge a small fee, maybe around $20, but they may wave the fee if you buy enough products.
Hope I helped,
Annie

If you want to wear subtle eyeshadow, start with pretty neutrals- like shimmery taupe's, beige's or browns. Buy an eyeshadow trio such as Cover Girl Eye Enhancers in Cafe Au Lait (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=159519&catid=98578&cmbProdBrandFilter=48634&trx=PLST-0-CAT&trxp1=98578&trxp2=159519&trxp3=1&trxp4=0&btrx=BUY-PLST-0-CAT).

Apply the lightest color right underneath your brow bone and in the corner of your eyes; apply the middle color on your lids up to the crease; to "open" the eyes, apply the darkest shade to the outer corner of eye. You can also use the darkest shade as an eyeliner and apply it with a thin eyeliner brush.

Mascara is a great makeup item because it can make such a difference for not much effort. If you want to go really subtle, buy a brown or clear shade- just for some added thickness/definition. I always wear black mascara, and apply a few layers to curled eyelashes. An eyelash curler is a great beauty tool to have!

Finally, for a little more subtle color, add some lipgloss. Revlon makes the best lipgloss: http://www.revlon.com/product.asp?ProductID=26467&Mode=catalog. This will add just an extra bit of color and shine, without making you look over the top. Try the shade 'Nude Lustre'- it's very natural but flattering.

Neutrogena is a good brand. They make a really good powder. And Loral (?) makes a great masquera that looks totally natural- that's what I wear. I go for the same look that you want.
What I do:
1. apply foundation to blemishes (just blemishes: not whole face)
2. apply neutrogena acne clearing powder to entire face
3. apply small amount of blush (multy colored for light skin faces)
4. apply masquera
5. apply light pink and tan eye shadow
6. apply light pink lip gloss
THE END!
If you do what I do, you can't even tell you're wearing it, but it gives you a nice, clean look and you can't even tell if yo have a blemish.
Hope this helps!
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

for eyes and mascara...

well u should buy a reclining eye liner in charcol or a brown so it look natural

i start toward the inside of my eye lightly and get thicker as i go out u shouldn't od tho because then you'll just end up looking like a racoon

for mascara (which i love) you have to be careful if you want volumized lashes get a volumized mascara whatever you get though don't get revelon color stay overtime lash tint it's horrible and if u mess up and put too much you can't take it off for about 72 hours

I met with a make-up consultant and she showed me how to use the make-up to enhance my features instead of just wearing layers of stuff on your face. You could A: call a consultant with Avon or Mary-Kay or something like that...they give these sessions where they teach you how to do make-up for free .
Or you could do what I do. I put a soft, neutral color from my eyelashes to my eyebrows as a base. Then I find a light color like a light blue or soft pink and I put it from my eyelashes to the crease in my eye. Next, you put a darker (not dark just darker) color in your crease ( the spot where your eyelid bends when you open your eyes) to help your eyes stand out.

Make up is a few thing human beings use in the experience that they are insecure of themselves yet they basically favor to be prettier or cover who they extremely are. i do not positioned on any makeup; not some thing. once in a lengthy time period (like once each 3+ months xD) at residing house sick positioned somewhat eyeliner for relaxing and basically take it off after decrease than 0.5-hour. i extremely trust it ought to easily damage your face and its not well worth it. organic splendor, continually! Oh yeah and human beings in severe college positioned on beginning position?!? what's the point? basically celebrities and fashions do this for photoshoots and different activities. i replaced right into a style in training and when I went to instructions the ladies all wore makeup except for me and this one female. human beings reported I appeared extremely organic besides the indisputable fact that it would not damage to positioned on makeup yet i ignore about them. that's me, i will't replace basically so i will hearken to the time period "extremely" some extra circumstances.

for foundation...i suggest Almost Make-Up by Clinique, or you maybe can choose something really lights like water based foundation by Maybelline...

The used of eye-shadow in casual...just light-brown colour or some light-pink on it...
i personally more like to put a white eye shadow in a line on the top side of my eyes (near the eye lashes)...just few, it will open up your eyes ^ ^

Just wear blush-on if you really needs and you have pale skin...choose light colour ^ ^
and then
for final touch add some lip gloss...
then you're ready to go out ^ ^
