My husband promised that he would stop hitting me when we move to the US?

Is it common for this to happen in the US..........my husband and his brothers hit me all the time when we lived in Bagdad..But now my husband only hits me and i am 3 months pregnant and he still hits me .....how can i help him to stop this stuff

well you could try calling the police it is against the law for a husband to hit a women and worse for the brothers. in the US and Canada we women do not put up with such disrespect and cowardly men, your husband is a coward that beats the weak and your child will be taught this in your home, is that what you want? he won't stop unless he thinks it is bad call the cops and put him in jail seek refuge in a shelter, what your husband is doing is called abuse and not manly here, only losers beat there wives and children!good luck

Hello you live ion America what may be okay in another country
is assault in the states call the cops on his sorry butt then geta divorce. He will not stop it will only get worse when one day he may even end up killing you. Get out now and find a good man because this is wrong and he should be punished for his actions
no matter how much you may love him if you do nothing he will just continue to abuse you that is not living that is a nightmare

You can not help him stop hitting you. You can however stop allowing yourself to be hit. Yes this sort of thing happens in the US but most of the women here do not tie themselves to the thinking that they must submit to their husband no matter what. We believe in equality and the strength of mind and heart that God gave to every person. If one is being abused such as you are in the US you have the freedom and the right to change your circumstances and there are people who will help you. There are lots of groups that help women get on their feet after leaving an abusive husband, police assist by arresting abusive husbands, courts assist by granting divorces from abusive husbands, but you have to want to stop allowing yourself to get beaten. If your idea of honoring your husband is greater than honoring yourself then you will never be rid of this problem.

You cannot help him to stop. It is who he chooses to be. And you need to get away from him now. Now!

No one man is worth being abused by. Do you want this for your unborn child? You don't think that he will not hit your child? He sounds like a lunatic!

Not to say there is no domestic violence, dear.

But there are laws. If the police are called in they do not need your consent to proscute for domestic violence.

If you are afraid to call when he is becoming violent you can ask the neighbors to call when they see he is getting violent.

You can ask a neighbor to stop by in the evening for a cup of tea, to make sure he isn't being violent. Have them go home and call the police if you are being abused.

Have a neighbor or friend call you in the evenings. If you say "Yes, I washed towels today." (or whatever) that will be the code that they are to call for help for you.

Let your neighbor know you will turn on/off the light on his side of the house/frontof the house/window in the den when he is being abusive as a signal to call the police.

Oh my God ! You are pregnant and he is hitting you? It happens here in the US but it is unacceptable !! You are a lady and with child. You should be treated with respect . You are the mother of his child. Does he think this is acceptable? Because here in the US if someone sees that happening they are going to kick his *** !!!! Once a hitter always a hitter. Your first mistake was to let him/them hit you the first time.Now that your in the US it's illegal to be getting hit.If you are willing to go to the authorities about him hitting you then go,but there are consiqences behind reporting him.So if you want to obey the laws of the US then do what you have to do.An abussive man nomatter where he live is dangerous.I lived with abuse for almost 25 years but finally decided it was enough.i left him and NEVER went back or looked back I don't regret it..l

Report him. It will not stop. Especially, since he does not see anything wrong with not only him hitting you, but his brothers also. Run, as far as you can go. You do not need to bring an innocent baby into the world of his violence. Make him go seek counseling before you make a try of your marriage.

START BY RUNNING AWAY TO THE POLICE.Tell them that he is hitting you.You shouldn't let anybody hit you no matter what religion you are.Yes, men hit their wifes here too.some women end up dying because their husband hit them too hard and kill them.Most women run to the police and the police help them get away forever.The police can help you find a place to live and they will take care of you.GO TO THE POLICE!
