After LOTS of auditions I finally wised up and would ask before I left "When should I stop waiting to hear from you?" Some companies will call you either way - others leave you hanging - and you can finally assume when they are in rehearsals that you didn't get cast.

Now - SOMETIMES you wow the director(s) and they don't need you at callbacks because they know they are going to cast you. BUT - that hardly ever happens - because usually - even it they are 100% postive they are going to cast you - they call you back because they want to read the other actors with you at callbacks. It might happen if they are 100% sure they are putting you in the chorus - or a smaller part. Like I said - it DOES happen sometimes - so don't ever assume that since you didn't get a callback that you were not cast.

If you're not cast - don't cry your eyes out. Use your eyes to find a great audition song and monolgue for the next audition. Keep going! And always - break a leg!

My first audtion was last september.
Alot of people didn't get called back but got to be a part of Ensemble. Callbacks are usually for lead roles but you don't always get the part you are called back for. example I got called back for one role and I worked my heart out and expressed myself during auditions. When the cast list was up and I didn't get the part sure I cried a little, Atleast I was in the musical as the emsemble. About 30 or 40 of the people who auditioned didn't make it in.

If you don't get called back or if you did and didn't get the role you wanted don't worry, you can always try again.

Like the last person said- don't give up your dream. But plan on not getting a callback. You are new...consider these first auditions as auditions for auditioning...don't stress. THe right part will come for you!

You can still get cast without being a part of callbacks. Even if you don't get cast this time, don't give up. Nobody gets cast everytime.

Don't give up on your dream.
If you don't get a callback on this one, try again with another one.
If you're not in any acting classes, enroll in one. They do help with perfecting yourself and working with others wanting the same thing.

Usually if you are going to get a big part, they will call you back. If you are going to be chorus girl number 8, they probably will not call you back.
