When I bought my amp, I was told I was supposed to plug things in in a certain order. I think it was plug in to the guitar then into the amp, then plug in the amp's power cord, but I haven't used it in awhile and now I forget the order. Any insight? Thanks so much!

Plug into guitar AND amp, then turn amp power on. DON'T plug in after turning on the amp.

Like your other answer, it's more than likely the jack where you plug the cable into the guitar. I had a 1/4" threaded jack on my Epiphone that just kept coming unscrewed no matter how many times I would try to tighten it. I just simply replaced it with a 3/8" threaded jack and now I don't have any problems with it.

If it's off or has a "standby" switch that is off, it doesn't matter what order you plug in. The only hard fast rule is that you don't want an amp cranked up with volume when you plug into it.
