Motion sickness is to do with the input your brain receives from your eyes not matching the input from your ears (responsible for balance and movement). That is why reading can cause or make motion sickness worse. Over the counter medicines work and I can read or play on the computer, however they do tend to make me drowsy. If you are starting to feel sick, open a window so that the fresh air is blowing on your face, and put the machine away for a bit. Don't look out of the side of the car, look forward at something in the distance, this helps the brain process better. I'm not sure about ginger as I don't like it, but if it works for you great. I recently have been using capsules from a health store, but only take them if I start to feel sick.

Unfortunately, you can't do a thing. You'll be that way the rest of your life. One thing you can do though is make sure you sit in the front seat EVERY time. If you sit anywhere else it will make you sick. I've been there and done that. I love to read while in a car, but after only 20 minutes, I've got motion sickness that lasts anywhere from 2-4 hours. It ain't worth it. Just try to enjoy the scenery :)

I get the same way no matter what i do in the car its something I've learned to live with. try to sit in the front or in the middle if you have to sit in the back. I find that as long as i look out the FRONT of the car I'm OK but if I do anything in the car or look out the side window it makes me feel horrible. so like someone else said just try to look at the scenery or if that gets boring or the traffic gets bad help the driver by keeping an eye on the other cars around you.

Take a Bonine - available over the counter at drugstores - about an hour before your trip. They don't make you drowsy and work like a charm. If you're taking a long trip, take one the day before to get it into your system and one about an hour before you depart. I can't read or anything else in a car, either.

Dont play games or focus on one spot. Try looking out the window instead.

This is one of those crazy things that work. Put a piece of brown paper on your abdomen. Brown postal paper or from a grocery store bag.
