Ask a nuch of old timers, like me.

Housing: In NYC: A small 3 bedroom home was around 27 gs. Rental: One bedtoom apartments was aroiund 80 bucks to 110 a month. Oil was 25 cents a gallon. Gas for the car was 22 cents a gallon. A brand new Toyota Corona was around 1400 bucks.

Food: Fast food combo meal at Burger King was around 39 cents. Small burger, fried and coke. Pizza pies were around 1,25 each fresh from the oven. Chickens were 29 cents a pound, while a large bottle of Coke was 39 cents on sale.

Eat out a full Chinese meal for two was under 5 bucks.

Gas was 24 cents per gallon. Cars cost $2000 to $3000, and average homes were $25000 - $40000.

I think prices overall have increased by at least a factor of 6!
