The fuel pump and the fuel gauge sending unit are built together in that vehicle, so if the gauge is not working now, you have a defective sending unit or a bad wiring connection. Take it back to the mechanic who replaced the fuel pump and have him repair it. There should be no charge, as it is a problem with the previous repair!!

Take it back to where you had the pump installed, it could be a bad connection or broken wire, or a bad fuel pump.

Sounds like a bad unit but is more likely a bad ground. If you paid to have it installed, I would make them check it and insist that they don't charge you.
If you have any auto repair experience, you can check it yourself with a voltage meter and ohms meter.
