The reason for shortages and inflation during war...

Well most supplies were being sent to the soldiers. Which means we had to "ration" our goods. Thus sending as much as possible to the soldiers fighting for us.

Also...

Inflation happened because most of the money produced was also being sent over to help the soldiers. Thus the money decreases in value.

think about all of what it takes to wage war especially 3000 miles from home or even in your won back yard. If you place yourself in the position of supply officer of even a small war the list of things necessary and the amounts used every hour are staggering look at what Bush is doing to us right ow we are going broke for little oil hunt trillions of dollars that could have been helping the poor, the homeless, the hunger the uneducated the military families that are on welfare etc etc all you have to do is think even a little bit and this question would be unnecessary

because most of the food,gasoline,tires metal,was being used for the war effort. with money being short,it lead to inflation. you had to have ration cards,and tokens to get things.
