It is true that a study conducted by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology concluded that women with a BMI higher than 30 have an increased chance of conceiving fraternal twins, yes.
Women with a greater chance of conceiving fraternal twins include:
women undergoing certain fertility treatments
women with a maternal family history of fraternal twinning
women who have previously had twins/multiples
women who have had several children previously
women over the age of 35
women with a high BMI
very tall women (same study by ACOG)
In addition, certain ethnic groups have a higher incidence of fraternal twinning.
