Atom is the smallest building block of life and element is a compound made up of the same atom. In other words, atom is like one person and element is like a class of people.
Definition of element: An element is a substance made up of atoms with the same atomic number.
Definition of atom: A unit of matter, the smallest unit of an element, having all the characteristics of a particular element and consisting of a dense, central, positively charged nucleus surrounded by a system of electrons.
