Love the Lord thy God with all your heart, mind, and soul and love your neighbor as yourself.
These are the two commandments that are the foundation of the Christian faith.

Life is the discovering of what the relationship with God is exactly and through that relationship with GOD your relationship with others will be defined.

Being a christian is very hard especially in this world. All you need to do so that you will remain strong and will not fall during times of temptation or trials is to hear God, read the bible. This is like the basis of our christian faith. And go to your church regularly because a christian is like a coal. If a coal is separated from coals that are burning it will lose it's fire. Also try to make christian friends so that in case of a spiritual crisis you also have them.

The best answers I have seen to this center around the quote "Love God with your whole heart, whole mind, whole soul, and love your neighbor as yourself." (forgive if this quote isn't exact, but you get the idea). If it makes it easier for you, replace the word "God" in that quote with the words "Life". LOVE the fact that you are alive, LOVE that you have the blessing of each day, LOVE the positive experiences that make your day because joy is such a wonder ful feeling, but also LOVE the difficult times because working through struggles makes you stronger & wiser. Finally, LOVE everyone around you, and in the spirit of being Christ-like, accepting and respecting and Loving the people who believe differently than you is essential to loving your neighbor. Keep Love, Compassion, and Gratitude in your heart (especially when lesser people would simply judge or become frustrated), and you are on your way towards experiencing the kind of Peace that Jesus talked about. Believe it or not, a lot of these basic ideas are shared by major world religions, so maybe in our quest to find God/Truth we should focus on these common attributes, and LOVE that they come in such diverse expressions around the world.

Keep it simple, keep it peaceful, and may you find what you are looking for.

Read the Bible. You can not be a good Christian by your "works or deeds alone. Good deeds can not get you into heaven . It's your believe and faith in God that makes you a good Christian. Once you accept Jesus in our life and understand words. You will begin to become more Christ-like with your actions. Pray for understanding and direction.

First off, if you would like advice on this; I would take it to the Religion and Spirituality section of YA.

Secondly, I see a lot wrong with your question. I used to be an avid believer in Jesus as the Son of God and the Savior of the world. I used to declare myself 'Christian'.
I would never never ever label myself as a Christian again in my life. Christians and any one who slaps a label on their faith is prone to be a hypocrite. When you too chose to associate yourself under that title; you are grouped with ones that are human...and apt to fail the standards applied to them by a label such as 'Christian'.

A good Christian.... well...
A good Christian (if that's what you want) would have to follow the bible. According to Christianity, you would have to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and truely believe that he died for your sins in order to save your soul from eternal damnation.
Read the bible if you'd like to know anything further..... I don't know or want to even claim that I know all of the answers because... well, i don't

A good Christian is open-minded, and embraces her intelligence and rationality. She doesn't just accept what people (such as her parents, her pastor, her Yahoo! Answers pals) tell her about Christianity. She seeks out answers for herself by reading Scripture, praying, and talking to lots and lots of people from different walks of life.

I believe that you must act 'Christ-like'. The corny WWJD is actually a good thing to ask yourself when faced with any mortal problem. Jesus was always kind, truthful, and good to others. It's easy to know how to do the right thing if you try to be Christ-like.

Stick to the teachings of Jesus, especially the Golden Rule and the Beatitudes. If anything in the bible or in church seems to contradict, err on the side of compassion.

You have to learn that you can't do it over night. ppl often use the example of God building earth, he didn't do it in one day. (even though i know he could)! When you push yourself to hard you get tired or discouraged. So take it one step at the time, pray, and read your bible! Flesh will tempt you to things that are not of Christ! but you can do it!

By being a good person, not a "good Christian". Such a term draws more lines that separates us.
