...and not in one of the numerous places in Africa? George Bush has talked about liberating people in Afghanistan and Iraq from oppression and terror, but it seems like there are countries in Africa that have the same or worse conditions. Why is this (other than oil)? He doesn't like black people, does he? That little b|tch, Kanye West, was right, wasn't he?

Afghanistan because the Taliban harbored Al Qaeda training camps.

Iraq because Saddam would not honor the cease fire he signed. We could not risk him getting nukes.

We are not the world's police. Africa is full of thieving dictators and warlords. We need to stop giving them money.

Kanye West is a moron. He has nothing intellectual to offer the world.

West commented that Pres Bush left blacks to die in New Orleans. The facts are that the federal government cannot enter a state with the guard until he is asked by the governor. It is amazing that all the other state's governors got the job done. Wait, they were Republicans. Blanco and Nagin are incompetent hacks. They showed how inept that they are at leading.

We are there with other countries to protect our interest and the rest of the worlds' and yes some of that interest is oil but there is so much more going on -But let's explore the oil -Do you drive, use garbage bags ,use a water hose ,use a bicycle, wear shoes, go to a hospital where thousands of patient care items are used there are millions of things we use in every day life that are petroleum based now imagine not having them or having to pay 3-4-5 or 6 times as much for them what are you truly ready to give up be honest with yourself.

well the geographical position of countries like iraq, afghanistan and middleseast is much more important than africa...besides that these countries are nations which have great economic and commercial aspect aswell specially countries like iraq(afghanistan is just attached to india and pakistan,so u can guess yourself the imp of that area)besides that why do u think india has been given access to civil nuclear technology again the strategic position of that country can play an imp role in international politics specially with regard to china
if we talk about iraq its just attached to other more imp middleseast countries such as saudia and iran..its all about international politics and international relations,u have to be 1 step ahead of other nations in this modern world global village to be ahead of the game in global economy and domination...Thats the way this world goes and has been going since the days of ROMAN EMPIRE...

After WW2, the US became the world's police. I think the government only acknowledges countries that are a threat to our national security.

the reason we are there IS because of oil and not because we have a soft spot all of the sudden for the middle east. Africa is in way worse condition than most people think and we do nothing there.

At this point, I'm not even sure oil is important to bush and Cheney. They're keeping our boys in there just because they refuse to admit they blew it a long time ago when they never prepared for the aftermath of the initial offensives.
