I've been doing it for 30 years....get into something decent. If I had it to do over again, I'd have gone into a science, preferably research, and most preferably outside. Life in a cubicle under fluorscent lights, breathing recycled air, and being told "You should be grateful you have a job" is no life.

Run..run fast...run far. Do not get trapped in the corporate cesspool.

30 years ago it was a good gig..you got to actually write code, and the managers left you alone. The paperwork was minimal, and all that matter was the results. Now, the paperwork and the process is 90% of the job, and you're lucky to see a line of code, let alone actually get to write it. If you do see code, it's to correct what came back from off shore or an out source company.

To put it another way..."Avoid the Dark Side, Luke".

I think that if I was intelligent and patient enough (to be sitting all day long in front a computer) then yes, that would be my job, of course you should consider the fact that when you start you probably won't get much money.

I took 4 years of programming and let me say this, flowcharts are tedious! Binary is actually quite easy to learn and Pascal was, ehhhhh, was a run-around. I don't do it now though, my boyfriend tests software and writes for a local company, so I have him do some of my graphic algorithms.

I.T. is not a good industry anymore. The amount of people with an I.T. degree with no jobs are staggering. And you have heard correct, most of the jobs are being outsourced.
