You could try paint with a feature wall papered with a design of your choosing. There are many about but the good thing is doing it this way you can get a roll of the more expensive designer wallpaper if you like as it is only one wall. Hope you like the result whatever you decide.

I don't think its really a matter of which is "cool", as cool is simply a matter of perception in the first place, but paint is much nicer in my opinion because it looks less tacky, is easier to maintain, can be altered much more easily and is easier to apply paint than the "oh so joyous" let alone messy task of wallpapering. It does however depend on whether its already wallpapered, because that means you have to strip the wallpaper...which is a tedious and time consuming task.

I`d definitely go for lined plain paper walls for a smooth finish then paint, we`re moving into a new house just now and the wife has had it done in two tone contrasting colours, looks beautiful.

Hi there,
I have just spent over a week removing wallpaper from my livingroom walls and then had to plaster some areas. I then hung lining paper (which is hung horizontily) and painted the lining paper and it looks fab!!
My wife thinks so too!

Depends on the state of your walls. Myself i prefer paint, wallpaper collects dust and easily gets dirty. Im lucky all my walls in the house are fairly new so they just get painted.

COOL ? I guess the general consensus is to talk people out of having wallpaper cos the walls never have 90 degree corners and thus they are hard to match up.
The sensible way is to smooth down ur bare walls and paper them with lining paper. Then you paint them accordingly to match with your carpet or sofa.... not the other way round.

If the walls are good paint , if the walls are not then a very delicate pattern is better, not the big flowers that were popular year's ago ,where you thought the garden had come in and climbed the walls . It is a matter of taste.
