I am grateful for most anything but would prefer to not get undies, socks or household items. Those things are bought most anytime throughout the year. I would prefer receiving something thoughtful even if it is homemade.

A wind-up radio and flash light for a hurricane kit. This seems to be a popular item in my home town. These items do not need batteries. you wind them up and they play for a little while or light up. My mom brought a whole lot of these items.

I don't want to get anything from my mother-in-law. She refused to come to our wedding, she refused to come to our daughter's high school graduation. I no longer visit her because she makes us sleep in the unheated attic.
