I am 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant today. I took a pregnancy test this morning and the line was very dark.

I think I am losing some of my pregnancy symptoms. I still have to pee a lot, I am tired, I have cramps in my uterus, and my nipples hurt.

But my breasts were hurting bad, and now they only hurt on the sides near my armpits.

Is losing tenderness in your breasts a sign of a future miscarriage?

I can't call my doctor, and this is my 1st pregnancy so I don't know if this is normal!

I am scared! Help!

My doctor's office is closed today. He told me before to go to the ER if I start bleeding, I am not bleeding so I am not going to the hospital.

I made an appt. with a OB/GYN but they will not see me until I am 12 weeks along!

In my experience your breasts will hurt somedays and may be fine on others. It's not a symptom of a future miscarriage - its just your body reacting to the pregnancy. Sometimes my morning sickness was worse than others, sometimes i was tired on more days than others etc - it is not an indication of anything - it is just your body.

Like you i worried about miscarriage constantly simply because i wanted baby so much. My doctor sat me down and told me that worrying and stressing so much could contribute to miscarriage so i needed to STOP. I taught myself to think positively instead of being so negative all the time!

I am now 23wks preg and still worry on occasion but unfortunately there isn't a lot one can do except trust that things will turn out alright.

Congrats and best of luck with your pregnancy... as i said try not to worry too much and if you need to talk to someone feel free to email me.

p.s - i didn't got see my ob until i was 12wks along either and everything has been great so far!

CONGRATS!!!!
I am due on Weds 12/20/06 with baby number 4. I also had a miscarriage along the way.
Pregnancy signs come and go as you'll see, but one thing that won't go away until the day you can hold your beautiful baby in your arms is the worrying you will do throughout the pregnancy! I have worried every pregnancy, but with the miscarriage I just knew something was not right, I wasn't tired, my breats never started hurting, I had some cramps but really none of the other symptoms. I felt as if everything was normal and just waiting for my period but had a positive pregnancy test at the same time.
If you are tired, crampy, any form of breast tenderness with a positive prego test...your on your way to eight more months of worries, LOL. Good Luck to you and try not to stress yourself out because that is not good for you or baby!

Jenny...If your OB will not see you until 12 weeks, find another one tom!!!!! Seriously, if something is going on the sooner a doctor see's you the better off you are! My doc was performing an ultrasound at 6 weeks to make sure that the pregnancy was not tubal or any other issues. If your doc doesn't show that kind of compassion, FIND A NEW ONE!! (EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE CLASSIC PREGO SYMPTOMS!!)

Well first of all calm down >.> People overly freaking out causes them a miscarriage some times,.. just because all of the stress and will and focus and mind over matter. It's like when people have symptoms they are pregnant when they aren't and can't even be because they are a virgin and never did anything to cause a pregnancy,.. but their mind makes their body act like it's pregnant.

So.. PLEASE Calm down.

Now,.. take the time to reflect on NOT EVERY ONE'S PREGNANCY IS THE SAME,.. even when one woman gets pregnant several times,.. each pregnancy could be different for them.

What I want to suggest is that you have a Blood Pregnancy test done by your Doctor in 4 days,.. and again 2 weeks after that. The Home test are wrong ALOT of the time. The Blood Test are the most accurate and they seem to work best 6 weeks after your first missed period.

But no matter what the most important thing is you calm down.

If you start haveing a period it can mean you are not pregnant or it could mean you are just one of those women that has a period atleast once through their pregnancy. If you start haveing heavy period or there are blood clots then get your butt to an Emergency Room or Hospital immediately... with someone else driving. Tell them you thought you were pregnant and now your clotting/HeavyFlow suddenly. Tell your your haveing cramps. Make sure you stay very clam or else you will make things worse. Relax.

I'm curious why you can't call your doctor, since you need to get this pregnancy confirmed and start getting prenatal care asap.

Losing breast tenderness is normal. There is no way to tell whether you're going to have a miscarriage short of severe cramping and bleeding, so relax. Minor cramping is normal in the first 8 weeks as your uterus adjusts to having to perform its biological function. Your nipples will probably be more reactive due to more blood flow to the breasts to stimulate your lactation glands.

My advice to you is to call your doctor to set up a prenatal appointment and then go to a bookstore and buy 'What to Expect When You're Expecting'... this book is updated every year or two with the latest information on pregnancy and is very good for alleviating worry.

well...congrats on findin out you are preg. I've had miscarriages before this one. Go with your gut. This pregnancy feels different then my others. Yea i still have to pee a lot, my nipples hurt a lil at first then it went to the side by my arm pits then i still have the neasua feelin. just if you're really worried about it til you can get a hold of your doc. i'd keep my feet up and then go to them tomorrow. IF they're not willin to answer your questions go to another one so on so on. I'm 6 wks. so trust me i know you're fear that was about 5 wks. was about the time that they started to fade away a lil but not all the way and the neasua started to kick in and the dizziness (which the neasuea part means that it's there hard to believe all the mornin sickness can be a good sign of a healthy baby) (not everyone has mornin sickness either though so keep that in mind) everyone is different i'm only goin on what i've went through in the past. Just go with your gut though.

Also one last thing i wanted to add and didn't at first. takin a bath is good but make sure it's not REALLY hot cause if you're like me you want your skin red that's how hot you like it but lower it down to a warm bath if u do have to have a hot bath i don't recommend more then 5 to 10 mins. cause that's how one of my first miscarriages happend the nurse didn't tell me to stay out of hot water.

Calm down and don't stress your body or the baby out! You are fine... some days you are more sick then others.. .The first trimester is frustrating cause you can't hear the heartbeat and you can't feel the baby kick. You are fine. All mothers go through the first trimester and worry.. and they have healthy babies... don't worry, you are fine.. Your breasts still hurt on the sides (they are not going to hurt non stop, they will feel ok sometimes). You are peeing alot, that is good. Cramps, I had those for the first 2 months or more.. Calm down. Stress and freaking out can put stress on your pregnancy. Don't allow anything but positive thoughts. Believe. In 8 months you will see your baby and you can get there calmly and have a calm baby because you kepy your head on.

You'll find when you're pregnant that symptoms come and go and when you think you've conquered one, ie morning sickness...something else pops up.

Cramps in the uterus are normal and breast tenderness comes and goes. And it could be attributed to other things, such as less caffeine recently, as well as a decrease in sodium.

I had a miscarriage and I had no symptoms at first other than it looked like I was having a full fledged period, and then very sharp cramps that radiated down both my legs.

My breasts NEVER hurt until I reached around 18 weeks. This is my first pregnancy too but I would calm down and just enjoy being pregnant. If you think you need to, call the doctor in the morning.

just breathe and calm down......go out and buy yourself What to Expect When You Are Expecting. i think everybody has that fear but losing the tenderness in your breast is pretty much normal i think. being calm is the best thing you can do. with you stressing like this can cause a miscarriage sooo just calm down and talk to your doctor about your fears and how you are feeling. i am sure everything is just fine. your symptoms that you have now are normal.

P.S. that book i told you to go get it is like the pregnancy bible. it is really great!

congrats and good luck!

this is my third pregnancy, im 7 weeks. my first baby i didnt have any breast changes, with my second very little. now with this one i had very sore nipples and just all around, i woke up one day and they didnt hurt for a few days, they now hurt again like crazy. your body is changing a lot so things are going to come and go a lot. stressing about kiscarriage right now is not a good thing. can cause lots of problems within your pregnancy. as long as u keep having fatigue and frequent urination u will be fine. good luck!
