No, I like it when people write a book, it shows they care. Maybe they have nothing better to do, you should not judge them but be grateful that they have spent precious time and energy responding to your question.
Why does this bother you? Are you a slow reader? Perhaps you have unresolved issues relating to lengthy answers to questions. Are one or both of your parents politicians, and you felt that you could never get a satisfactory response to simple questions such as "how are babies made?" and "what was all that banging I could hear coming from your room last night?".
Are you a wham bam thank you ma'am kind of person? Some times it's best to take your time over things and really savour them.
If it's fast answers you are after maybe you are looking in the wrong place, you simply can't dictate to people how they should answer your question. Maybe you should start specifying how many words people are allowed to use to answer your question.
If you ask open questions you invite lengthy answers. Perhaps it is actually your questions that are at fault rather than the answers.

Some questions, of a more delicate nature, sometimes needs a bit more than a 'yes' or 'no' answer. At least it shows that the person answering the question is genuinely interested in helping rather than just point gaining. I hope this is not too long a story for you.

mostly what these so called now it alls do is find the answer to your question on the web and then cut and paste it, they could just show you the link, but they must get a kick out of seeing they have the longest answer or somthing.

Know what you mean - especially when they have cut and pasted it out of wikipedia. Sometimes i don't mind if it makes sense, - but usually it's a load of waffle!! Excuse me, must go now, have a book to write.....
